Welcome to Asian American Christian Fellowship (AACF), a campus ministry under JEMS, a non-profit missions organization.
We are a Christian Fellowship at University of Washington - Seattle Campus. AACF also has other chapters in the other colleges within the country! Please continue reading to learn more about our mission, vision, who we are and why we are.
The mission of Asian American Christian Fellowship (AACF) is to reach into the university and collegiate community, primarily to those who are Asian Pacific Americans, with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ.
We are committed to making disciples by educating and equipping students in biblical foundations, Christian disciplines, and the development of spiritual gifts in order to prepare them for witness and service on the campus, in the local church, in the marketplace, and in world missions.
The ministry of AACF, Asian American Christian Fellowship, began with a group of college students who had attended the JEMS Mount Hermon summer conference. They wanted the summer fellowship to continue beyond the conference. And in 1972 that desire crystallized at CSU Los Angeles where the first bible study was held. A handful of college students gathered on campus for a bible study. More bible studies popped up all over the west coast of the U.S.. Groups started up at UCLA, UC Berkeley, UW Seattle, CSULB, SJSU, and Stanford. And in 1977 these bible studies became known as Asian American Christian Fellowship. At that time, the AACF leadership realized that there was a void for college-aged Asian American. So began the mission, to reach college campuses with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ and to raise up the next generation of Christian leaders. In 2020 we have 20 AACF chapters that includes nearly 700 students who are, in turn, reaching thousands of college students and faculty.
That's a lot of information about UW AACF's roots, starting with JEMS! What is UW AACF like, though?
UW AACF is (as of 2025) the only AACF chapter that is not based in a Californian school. Although there have been more AACF's outside of California in the past, UW AACF is the only active chapter now. Therefore, our culture and traditions differ a lot from other chapters of AACF! Here are some characteristics of our fellowship that stand out:
The community at UW AACF is typically very lively and welcoming, both with returning members and newcomers. It's very common to see people talking and hanging out with one another after AACF events conclude, even staying hours after they officially end!
UW AACF is filled with a lot of people who genuinely care for one another! As the year goes on, people in our fellowship tend to develop very close relationships that grow beyond the borders of AACF. Most people in UW AACF love talking and learning about one another, especially newcomers!
UW AACF is predominantly Asian (haha...) but the spiritual walks of those in our fellowship look very different! Everybody has their own faith journey and their own experiences knowing Christ, so everybody's walks with the Lord look different. There are a lot of people in UW AACF who have been walking with the Lord for most of their lives, a lot of people who still have lots of questions, and a lot who are very new in their walks of faith too!
We hope that UW AACF can be a community where people belong to, as well as helping people realize the eternal kingdom we all can belong to as well. We provide spaces for people to ask questions, have deep conversations, and build friendships that point one another to the Gospel. You do not need to be Asian, American, or Christian to be in Asian American Christian Fellowship! We are excited that you are here, and we hope that we can be a brother or sister in Christ to you!
No matter where you are in your walk with Christ, UW AACF welcomes you!
The Asian American Christian Fellowship (AACF) as of division of JEMS, believes:
That the Bible is God's Word, written by men divinely and uniquely inspired by the Holy Spirit, and that it is the supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
In One God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
In Jesus Christ, the world’s only Savior; in His pre-existence, virgin birth, sinless life, vicarious death, burial, and bodily resurrection and personal return.
In the Holy Spirit as a Person, indwelling and empowering the believer, convicting the unsaved and presenting the claims of Christ.
That sinful man is lost and can be redeemed only by the death and shed blood of Christ upon the cross through the regeneration of the Holy Spirit.
In the resurrection of the dead, the believer to life everlasting and the unbeliever to eternal condemnation.
That the Church, the Body of Christ, is comprised of all who have accepted the redemption provided by Christ.
